Mimi was walking to school alone. Today was the first day of her last year! Next year, she would be in high school and have excuses to get home late. She hate going back home.
*Flashback*
"You know what we're going into. No job, no money, no payments. We're going bankrupt here, Sirius."
"Morgan, I know. Shut up for a few moments, would ya? The kids are right upstairs."
"But you come back home every day wasting our money on your damn precious wine."
"SHUT UP MORGAN!"
A sound like thunder echoed through the house.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to..."
The woman named Morgan went into a room and closed the door. If you listen closely, you can hear the sounds of a woman in despair.
*End of Flashback*
Going back, Mimi is still walking to school. There's still 3 more blocks.
Today's weather is damn cold. Should have brought a scarf...
Quietly, but loud enough to hear a block away, Mimi heard people running... towards her way. She knew they couldn't possible be running to her, so she moved to one side and kept walking...
"That's the one! Capture dead or alive!"
Mimi looked up from the ground she was staring at to keep her entertained while walking alone.
Dead or alive?
Mimi turned around. There was a group of men wearing black... costumes? They each had a sword or gun out. And all pointing to her.
What did my father get into this time?
Mimi started to run... run for her life. The men followed and started slashing her. Mimi was very athletic and won trophies in track. She dodged and outran them but some were even faster.
Mimi started to feel a bit dizzy.
Blood...
Mimi fought to stay awake. There was a open wound on her right arm. Her legs were sore and the cold wind felt like needles piercing her naked face.
...
However, she's been through worse.
Long ago, her father knew something like this will happen. Maybe not long ago, but after he lost his final job.
"Mimi, we're going to enroll you into this school. I want you to learn how to defend yourself whenever you need to. You don't know how evil this world is."
And so, that began the martial world for Mimi.
"Shut up with the story here and try to fu**king write a story where I DON'T die please!"
And yet, Mimi never learned her manners. Sighs... well.. here goes.
Mimi is now 2 blocks away from school. Long huh? Well, the blocks are man long and it takes so long to run when you have to dodge this and that and ...
"We get the story. Just get on with it!!!"
People are so impatient these days... LEARN HOW TO RESPECT?!
"Sorry but can you hurry it up?!"
One block away. Anyways... where was I? Ah yes.. dodging.. well, now you have a much more better question for me right now, right? Like, why is Mimi talking to the... person who's writing in bold letters. Well, I'll tell you why. This will have to start at the wayyyyyyyyyy beginning. Enjoy [=
Vague memories form in Maria's head as her eyes met Jacob's. It swirled around... blurry images, clear ones... then quickly blurred her eyesight... and clearer images popped up.. happy times.. sad times.. her death....
What are these images... what is this feeling?
Maria was confused... really confused.. Jacob.. was also feeling weird. These feelings, attacking each other. His renewed feelings for Maria and his current feelings with Othello. Was it even the same Maria he had known? How these feelings contradicted each other.. canceling each other out...
Othello felt the tension in the air... how she was being excluded in a universe she herself cannot enter... she slowly backed away... and stepped on a twig.
Snap!
Maria and Jacob's attention turned towards the noise but all they found was a tree branch... they stared at each other again and memories flowed from Jacob into Maria... clear pictures popping into her head...
Smiling, Maria went over to Jacob and took his hand... somehow... Jacob still felt this wave of guilt over him occasionally but... what could you call it? Side effects of the love potion? He had always loved her? Who knows... but they know that if they keep this tree branch, it will always remind them of her.. The person who actually became their red line... that connected them through their life... A last parting gift... for... she had a disease that disabled her from ever flying again.. but what was it called? Heartbroken? No one knows either because no one ever saw a beautiful hummingbird such as Othello ever since.

Hm.. what should I hunt today?
As dawn approaches, Jacob got out of bed and into his clothes. Suddenly, he thought of Othello.
Maybe.. just maybe.. I shouldn't hunt today... Just to not feel guilty if I see Othello today...
Then, he remembers that this is his last year as a necromancer's apprentice.
I just have to finish this year. How many more days... 15.. just 15 more days. I will not feel guilty after that. Yes, yes.
Othello was flying around in the air. Searching.. searching for her best friend, Maria. Maria was a newborn. She was only 3 years old. And yet, she's disappearing again.
"Chirp, chirp, chirp. Chirp, chirp."
Maria's sound. Othello glided downwards, following the chirps sound waves. There, she saw Maria, playing with the leaves.
Othello phased and there, she lifted Maria in her hands.
"Maria, how many times do I have to tell you? Don't play alone in the woods. There are dangers lurking around."
Maria phased. She turned into a 23 year old, same year as Othello but older.
"Oh, Othello! Look at the beauty! The nature that surrounds us all the time. It's wonderful!"
Othello smiled. She loved Maria because Maria loved everything. She was such a sweetie that she can't bear to leave her alone in the dangers of the woods.
"Maria, dear. It's time to go home. You don't want to be in danger now, do you?"
Maria sighs but listens. She phased back into a lovely sparrow and flew away. Othello was about to phase back when she heard her name being called. A male's voice.
Othello turned around.
"Jacob!"
Jacob smiled at the girl for remembering his name.
"Who were you talking to?"
"Oh, I didn't see you. You saw it? I was talking to my best friend, Maria. She's a sparrow but I can understand her. She's so sweet."
Maria, the name brings back memories..
"Maria... she's your friend?"
"Yes, I've known her for 3 years. She lost her memory 3 years back. I had to help her. She's a nice girl and helps out a lot."
Why am I telling about Maria to Jacob? Does he... does he know her by chance?
"I see... Well, can I meet her?"
"Sure. Let me get home and give her a heads up. Just come after me within a 10 minute time."
Jacob nodded as Othello turned. Jacob didn't listen to Othello. He followed her after she turned her back on him. He followed her. He saw her. He saw her phase... phase into the beautiful hummingbird that he saw the other day. He saw her flew away... he followed the direction in which she flew in. He found a little cottage in sight. He saw Othello phase back and bent down.
"Maria, Maria dear. Where are you now? Come out. I have something to tell you."
A little sparrow came out.
"Chirp, chirp."
Jacob saw the little sparrow phase.. phase into a girl... a girl with the face he saw 3 years ago... at her funeral...
It couldn't be... it just couldn't be...
"Yes, Othello?"
The same voice... the same sound...
"I'm bringing over a friend."
"Oh, is it another sparrow? Hummingbird? I love making friends!"
Maria jumped around Othello and smiled joyously.
"No, no, no. It's a human. A human male."
"Oh..." Maria's hopes fell. Then, she quickly smiled again.
"Well, this is my first time meeting one!"
Othello smiled gently at Maria's beautiful face.
"He should be about here. Maria, he's a necromancer... you know what that is, right?"
She knew.. she knew all along...
"Yes.. one that kills and revives the dead, right?"
"Yes, so I want you to be cautious... ok? Promise me? I think he knows your past..."
Jacob is in deep thought. How much did Othello know? His head hurts. He's taking in too much. It's also about time. Time for me to go out...
"I understand. You brought him here to see if I remember him, right? Do you want to send me away?"
"Of course not, dear Maria. You are like my sister, or daughter. I would never do that."
As she said that, Jacob observed a quite invisible tear rolling down her face.
"Othello..."
"Hello! There you are, Othello. I thought I lost you."
Maria turned at the sound of the so familiar voice... like she heard it before.
She gazed at Jacob, like she knew him... and Jacob stared... It was history repeating itself.

"Hello? Helllllllllo?"
Jacob was still gazing. Othello, shocked and still shocked, just stared right back.
"Hello. My name is Jacob. What is your name?"
Othello, shaking out of it... tried to put water into Jacob's mouth.
"What you need to do right now is not ask questions but to drink this and go home. I don't know how hard you hit your head."
Jacob obediently drank the water and sighed a happy sigh.
"How old are you, Miss? You seem to know these woods well."
"I live in the woods. I have friends, animal friends. But these days, they don't happen to be seen. I can't find them anywhere." Othello sighed and turned away.
Jacob, feeling guilty, tried to cheer Othello up.
"It's ok. Maybe they will come back someday. I heard that there is a evil creature messing around in the woods."
Yea, I know.. it's you, Jacob. You're the monster. I should stay away from you. When are you going to -- oh right. He sniffed in the love potion. He won't leave anytime soon...
Othello shook her head and looked into Jacob's eyes.
"My name is Othello. Nice to meet you, Jacob. I think I should go. It's getting dark."
Not that it matters to him or me. I can see in the dark.
Jacob didn't want Othello to leave after just knowing her name.
"Where do you live? I'll escort you back."
No! Why is he so stubborn...? What if he sees me one day in animal form? Would he personally kill me?
"No thank you. My ma doesn't want me to hang around strangers, not meaning you, you're one of my friends now. Ma just doesn't want people she doesn't know to know me. She's just being cautious.
Jacob looked hurt at first but after hearing the explanation, he relaxed.
"Ok. Let's see each other another time. It's rare for me to find a friend in these woods," he said with a smile.
"Bye, Jacob."
"Bye, Othello."
With that, they both went their own ways.
Jacob was still gazing. Othello, shocked and still shocked, just stared right back.

"Bye, Othello."
With that, they both went their own ways.
So just a whiff of this and a few words...
"Dai kua ze ge ming kue lai le!" Jacob exclaimed as he tapped his finger to the poor bird's heart.
Jacob heard the heart started beating slowly. Jacob watch it twitch in pain and then, the bird hopped upright and looked as if it were testing its wings. Not sure if it can still fly, the bird gave a test run. It fluttered a few inches from the ground. When it was sure that it could fly again, it flew with such grace that Jacob gazed in awe.
As Jacob headed back to his grandfather's cottage, he suddenly saw a dead hummingbird. At least it looked dead to him... He saw its wings and realized that it was the same hummingbird he saw earlier in the week. Of course, Othello wasn't dead. She was just laying there unconscious because of the long flight back. Necromancy can bring back lives, yes. But once a necromancer falsely assumed one's death, necromancy can go backwards on the spell. The hummingbird twitched a little and out fell a bottle. The love potion. The cork slightly moved when it touched the ground. Jacob, being very curious, wants to know what's inside the tube. He uncorked it and took a whiff of the potion. He looked back at the hummingbird. His eyes started to get a bit hazy, dizzy in fact. Then, he lay unconscious on the leafy ground, next to Othello.
Othello woke up 1-2 hours later after Jacob collapsed. She thought Jacob may be hurt. She phased back into human form and ever so lightly, put her head on Jacob's chest.
Good, he's still alive.
Then, she notices the bottle uncorked in Jacob's hand. Jacob slowly regains consciousness. Othello didn't see the harm in talking to him so she asked:
"Are you okay? Hello? Can you hear me?"
Of course Jacob can hear her. The voice sounded wonderful in his ears. It was like a angel sighing. He tried to gaze at the angel but saw nothing but a really bright light.
"Don't move," the angel told him, "You may be hurt."
Jacob couldn't feel anything. He only felt the warmth of the angel's skin against him and her voice caressing his face. Jacob tried to tell this angel that he was okay when he felt a head rush and laid unconscious on the floor once again.
Othello, seeing that he was out of it again, tried to carry him. He was actually light to Othello. She took him outside her home. She went to a nearby riverbank to get water for Jacob.
Ugh, where am I? Jacob groaned as he tried to get his eyes to survey his whereabouts. He felt like his head was a thousand pounds heavy. He tried to sit upright but was immediately failed by his dizziness. What happened?
Othello came back from the riverbank with a bamboo cup full of water.
"You're awake," the angel said with a smile, "I was afraid you were going to be out for a long time."
Jacob stared at Othello like she was the only person in the world that matters to him. He gazed at Othello with such affection that Othello suddenly had a thought.
The Great Love Master is the master of love potions. Surely, he couldn't have thought to have given me one... no... it couldn't have been those potions.
She thought in horror of what she had asked for and stared at Jacob once again. She stared at the poor boy who was deeply in love with her.
"Dai kua ze ge ming kue lai le!" Jacob exclaimed as he tapped his finger to the poor bird's heart.

She thought in horror of what she had asked for and stared at Jacob once again. She stared at the poor boy who was deeply in love with her.
As Othello flew away with Grandfather Wind, she thought deeply.
Jacob doesn't look that bad....
But, she remembers that Jacob almost killed her if it wasn't for Grandfather Wind.
A end to this... a end...
Othello flew higher and higher... trying to think of a way to end this... and she found the greatest Love master, Love....
"The Great Love Master, please listen to my request. I want a soothing potion. A potion for memory loss or a potion that could make one person bow before me. Please, help me!"
The Love Master thought this lovely hummingbird wanted someone to fall in love with her and so, misunderstood Othello's meaning and gave her a really strong love potion. And when the Great Love Master gives a strong love potion, it's so strong that if the potion is too much for the person, that person may die...
"Thank you, Great Master...."
And once again, Othello flew away with the wind...
Jacob doesn't look that bad....

And once again, Othello flew away with the wind...
A hummingbird... This is going to be one easy kill...
As Jacob got closer to his prey, he saw the colors of the hummingbird's wings and the beauty of its body. It was no hummingbird he had ever seen...
Stop it... Jacob shook his head I am a necromancer, trained to kill and revive...
Jacob is trying to raise his hand now, trying to recite a spell... but he just couldn't do it because... the hummingbird was gone and in its place was a young beautiful girl...
Hmph, A necromancer, huh? I thought they were cold blooded... Othello scoffed and dusted herself. She got up and started to move closer to Jacob.
"Jacob... when are you going to stop killing?"
Othello said with such a graceful but firm voice that Jacob could not believe what he had seen. The bird.. turned into a human girl. The more of a reason to kill it...
"Jacob.. stop before it's too late... please... stop.. stop before its too late...
And the girl herself disappeared with the winds...
I must be hallucinating.., Jacob thought as he shook his head and stopped killing... for the day.

3 Years Later...
"Let's see... 5 werewolves there, 2 hawks, 1 panda, and 10 snakes.... Hmm... let me try over there..."
Earlier in Jacob's days of apprenticeship
"Jacob, to revive the dead, the dead have to be dead first... do you understand? It means that you have to kill to make a living. I want you to start killing the animals of this forest. As you grow stronger, I hope that you'll make yourself a challenge and kill animals that are more powerful than you. After you kill them, leave them alone for 7 days. Then, you will start reviving. First off, I'll teach you how to revive. You get this potion and that, then you dab a bit of this into that..."
As Ezekiel taught Jacob the reviving spell, animals out there were going into hiding, for... they can always sense danger when it's near.
Back to present
And so, Jacob has made a living of a necromancer's apprentice for 3 years, which is the last year of apprenticeship for him.
Othello, a graceful and beautiful hummingbird, was disgusted at what she saw. Being in the forest for over 1,000 years, she couldn't stand to see her friends and family being killed and destroyed. She couldn't bear to see the pain retched across their faces as they once live again but in pain...
She had to do something.

"NO!" Ezekiel was angry... not angry... in fury! His only grandson wanted to be a necromancer and it was unbelievable...
"Being a necromancer means having to be in secrecy and not to be revealed in public. You are to practice in silence. Do you know the sacrifices you will have to make to become a necromancer?!"
Jacob thought about his childhood friends in the village. He thought of going into the market to buy food supplies and being kicked out of the village because he was a necromancer. But... Maria... Anything will be worth it.
"Yes, I want to become a necromancer." The sky suddenly turned black and the clouds above rumbled.
"Sigh, then it is done. You are now the apprentice of a necromancer. Do not ever go back on your word. Let us take the oath."
"Follow what I say:
As a necromancer, I will take my job seriously and would not reveal my occupation in public. If it will ever happen that someone had knew my secret, I will be forever banned from the world of necromancy. I, Jacob Chiya, will follow this oath and if I ever break it, I will be on every necromancer's blacklist, forever hunted down. If I were to quit the occupation of a necromancer, I would be forever doomed and will be an outcast of the world. Being a necromancer means that I will follow the necromancer's apprentice's rules and if I cannot succeed then, I have no more hopes of becoming a necromancer.
Jacob followed his words:
"As a necromancer, I will take my job seriously and would not reveal my occupation in public. Being a necromancer means that I will follow the necromancer's apprentice's rules and if I cannot succeed then, I have no more hopes of becoming a necromancer.."
Jacob was thinking of how the oath wasn't that bad when his grandfather interrupted his thoughts with terrifying visions.
"It's the most horrible oath a necromancer can ever make. You will never rest in peace if you break it. You will suffer eternally, so.. being a necromancer is not as fun as it seems these days. Being a outcast in the eyes of necromancers is not Ezekiel shudders what any necromancer would want," with a sad look in his eyes as he gazed into the eyes of his apprentice, Jacob.
Death.... Blood... Love...
Poor, poor Maria... She was so young... same age as me... and yet...
Ezekiel, a powerful yet unpopular necromancer had a grandson that was unknown of... named Jacob. Jacob was grieving.. grieving over his lost love... his Maria... Having to reach 20 years of life and experiencing the worst pain of his life, it was unbearable.
If only.. I can revive her... bring her back...
A thought came to his head. Necromancers... elders that could revive the dead, bring them back to life.... having to be known as black magic.. they keep low profiles...
I... I could be a necromancer... I... I can have the power to bring Maria back to life... yes, a necromancer...
His head was filled with ideas of being a necromancer that he did not think of the consequences that will come to him when he has mastered his occupation....
