Hm.. what should I hunt today?

As dawn approaches, Jacob got out of bed and into his clothes. Suddenly, he thought of Othello.

Maybe.. just maybe.. I shouldn't hunt today... Just to not feel guilty if I see Othello today...

Then, he remembers that this is his last year as a necromancer's apprentice.

I just have to finish this year. How many more days... 15.. just 15 more days. I will not feel guilty after that. Yes, yes.

Othello was flying around in the air. Searching.. searching for her best friend, Maria. Maria was a newborn. She was only 3 years old. And yet, she's disappearing again.

"Chirp, chirp, chirp. Chirp, chirp."

Maria's sound. Othello glided downwards, following the chirps sound waves. There, she saw Maria, playing with the leaves.

Othello phased and there, she lifted Maria in her hands.

"Maria, how many times do I have to tell you? Don't play alone in the woods. There are dangers lurking around."

Maria phased. She turned into a 23 year old, same year as Othello but older.

"Oh, Othello! Look at the beauty! The nature that surrounds us all the time. It's wonderful!"

Othello smiled. She loved Maria because Maria loved everything. She was such a sweetie that she can't bear to leave her alone in the dangers of the woods.

"Maria, dear. It's time to go home. You don't want to be in danger now, do you?"

Maria sighs but listens. She phased back into a lovely sparrow and flew away. Othello was about to phase back when she heard her name being called. A male's voice.

Othello turned around.

"Jacob!"

Jacob smiled at the girl for remembering his name.

"Who were you talking to?"

"Oh, I didn't see you. You saw it? I was talking to my best friend, Maria. She's a sparrow but I can understand her. She's so sweet."

Maria, the name brings back memories..

"Maria... she's your friend?"

"Yes, I've known her for 3 years. She lost her memory 3 years back. I had to help her. She's a nice girl and helps out a lot."

Why am I telling about Maria to Jacob? Does he... does he know her by chance?

"I see... Well, can I meet her?"

"Sure. Let me get home and give her a heads up. Just come after me within a 10 minute time."

Jacob nodded as Othello turned. Jacob didn't listen to Othello. He followed her after she turned her back on him. He followed her. He saw her. He saw her phase... phase into the beautiful hummingbird that he saw the other day. He saw her flew away... he followed the direction in which she flew in. He found a little cottage in sight. He saw Othello phase back and bent down.

"Maria, Maria dear. Where are you now? Come out. I have something to tell you."

A little sparrow came out.

"Chirp, chirp."

Jacob saw the little sparrow phase.. phase into a girl... a girl with the face he saw 3 years ago... at her funeral...

It couldn't be... it just couldn't be...

"Yes, Othello?"

The same voice... the same sound...

"I'm bringing over a friend."

"Oh, is it another sparrow? Hummingbird? I love making friends!"

Maria jumped around Othello and smiled joyously.

"No, no, no. It's a human. A human male."

"Oh..." Maria's hopes fell. Then, she quickly smiled again.

"Well, this is my first time meeting one!"

Othello smiled gently at Maria's beautiful face.

"He should be about here. Maria, he's a necromancer... you know what that is, right?"

She knew.. she knew all along...

"Yes.. one that kills and revives the dead, right?"

"Yes, so I want you to be cautious... ok? Promise me? I think he knows your past..."

Jacob is in deep thought. How much did Othello know? His head hurts. He's taking in too much. It's also about time. Time for me to go out...

"I understand. You brought him here to see if I remember him, right? Do you want to send me away?"

"Of course not, dear Maria. You are like my sister, or daughter. I would never do that."

As she said that, Jacob observed a quite invisible tear rolling down her face.

"Othello..."

"Hello! There you are, Othello. I thought I lost you."

Maria turned at the sound of the so familiar voice... like she heard it before.

She gazed at Jacob, like she knew him... and Jacob stared... It was history repeating itself.
